Drugs in Your Drinking Water

It is not just a domestic problem, but as an example, the waterways in the United States contain residues of birth control pills, antidepressants, painkillers, shampoo ingredients, and many other chemical compounds that originate at the drug store, pharmacy and doctor’s office.

The EPA and other investigators have found these substances, called “emerging contaminants,” almost everywhere that they have looked for them.
