The following are some very telling statistics and comparisons that came out of the extensive research undertaken by John Robbins way back in the 80s.
This is a brief eye opener. The long version (452 pages of reality) is John’s best selling book “Diet for a New America”.

Since the publication in 1987 of “Diet for a New America,” beef consumption in the United States has fallen a remarkable 19 percent. “Diet for a New America” is considered by many to be one of the most important contributors to this move in the right direction…
But a disappointing reality is that overall; humans are still causing tremendous unnecessary harm to the environment and to themselves with unsound dietary choices.

For the most part, people just don’t know what they are contributing to, and how we can all be much happier and healthier while preserving the beauty and wellness of the planet.
